Top Ten
1. Tupac “Do for love”
This was the second time we were asked by Tupacs mom to recreate one of the ideas he had before he passed away…so sad. Our first experience working with Tupacs vocals was on “I wonder if heaven got a ghetto” which was a very spiritual experience . One of the rare times where we were just 100% satisfied with everything, vocals, beats…we just love this song.
2. Whitney Houston “Heartbreak Hotel”
Being a fan of Whitney Houston since we were kids, working with her and hearing her sing one of our songs was just an amazing experience!…words can not describe it . Having Faith and Kelly on top of it, simply paradise. We are very proud of this song.
3. Monica “Before you walk out of my life”
Our first big hit! Again we spend a lot of time making sure that the track had enough street hip hop flavor to match this pretty song…oooh by the way talk about attitude!!…Monica walked in the studio, 14 years old ready to take over the world…love u Monica.
4. JoJo “Leave”
We were absolut blown away by this young girl ! . i don’t think we have ever worked with anyone that young who can sing like that . This girl has a long career in front of her … what a talent !
5. Fantasia “Truth Is”
We were not that into to the whole American idol thing – but Clive Davis called us and said “this one is the real deal”…and boy was he right – again. Fantasia has raw talent, reminiscing of Aretha Franklin – we loved working with her and are very proud of the beautiful song that came out of it .
6. Craig David and Sting “Rise and fall”
We recorded this song in London in our favorite area of London , Primrose Hill. Simply a magical session. We had met Craig David in Los Angeles, but it was not until we came to London we really connected with him, mostly because Karlin and I needed to get in touch with our European roots. Craig had the whole idea for this song, using a guitar loop from one of Stings songs, he is one of the most talented artists we have ever worked with. Getting Sting to sing on this song was just an unbelievable experience.
7. Toni Braxton ” I love me some him “
We recently listened to this song again and it still sounds great. Just a real good vibe, great lyrics and off course the most incredible vocals from Toni Braxton.
8. Kasey Butler “Album”
New Soulpower artist Kasey Butler coming next year! Amazing talent.
9. Brownstone “Sometimes Dancing”
This was first time since we moved to the US we were happy with a song. We had been struggling to find our own sound and this one is defiantly different from a lot of R&B those days. We were very inspired by dub reggae which we just love. Maxee from the group is singing the song, she just blew us away!
10. Tupac “I wonder if heaven got a ghetto”
This was the most intense recording we have ever done. We were called up by Arfeni, Tupacs mom, who asked us to finish some of the work her son was working on. She was there all the time during the making of this track…the lyrics on this song made us all cry.
